Thunbergia laurifolia Powder Extract: Thunbergia laurifolia, also known as blue trumpet vine or laurel clock vine, is a popular tropical ornamental vine. When combined with other drugs or poisons, they can be used as an antidote. Antioxidant, anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties have also been reported for the plant. Rang Jeud, or T. laurifolia in Thai, is used to make herbal teas and capsules.

This Acanthaceae vine commonly found in Southeast Asia is called “Rang Jeud” in Thai. Its scientific name is Thunbergia laurifolia Linn. Rang Jeud, a shrub native to India and Pakistan, has small oblong or oval leaves and blueish-purple flowers. White, yellow, and purple varieties can be distinguished by the color of their flowers. Purple varieties are believed to contain beneficial compounds in their stems, roots, and leaves. It has been widely used in Thai traditional medicine for many years as an antipyretic and antidote.

There is also a claim that the aqueous extract of this plant can treat alcoholism. Hepatoprotective activity and the presence of oxidants are some of the pharmacological effects. Apigenin, cosmosiin and delphinidin-O-D-glucoside are some of the flavonoids found in Rang Jeud.
