Plumbago indica Powder Extract: Plumbago indica L., previously known as P. rosea, is a flowering plant in the Plumbaginaceae family. It is indigenous to Southeast Asia. Indian leadwort, scarlet leadwort, and whorled plantain are some of the other names for this plant. It is grown as an ornamental in greenhouses throughout the tropics and in temperate regions. Plumbago indica root is a key ingredient in Ayurvedic medicine (originating in India) and is widely traded as such. Plumbago indica has a variety of pharmacological properties, including antimicrobial, anticancer, cardiotonic, and antifertility properties. It is also a strong irritant.

Plumbagin has been shown to have anti-implantation and abortifacient properties in rats. The use of plumbagin in traditional medicine is a risky practice due to its toxicity. Plumbago indica contains one or more antimutagens, according to in-vitro tests. In mice, plumbagin had a significant tumor inhibitory effect against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma at low doses. The leaves’ ethanol extract is effective against herpes simplex virus type 1. (HSV-1).
